Reward-net - Activities

The layout of the screen pages of the language material is very close to the book pages of the Reward coursebook in design. Each operation on a screen page is as intuitive as it might be in a normal book. The course is easy to use and contains many different activity types. The list below presents examples of some of the activity types you might find in the course. On finishing an activity, the user can check their answers. The Activity Results box shows clearly the numbers of correct and incorrect answers, as well as allowing the user to clear their answers, see only errors or even see the solution.

Vocabulary section		Vocabulary section Each lesson contains one or more Vocabulary section which group all new vocabulary for that lesson. In localised versions, a translation of each word appears when the user places the cursor over the selected word. To listen to a word’s recording, click on this word.
Grammar section		Grammar section Each lesson contains one or more Grammar sections which give a short explanation of all the grammar rules introduced in that lesson. Each Grammar Section contains sample sentences as well as a recording of each sentence. To hear the recording, simply click on the sentence. In localised versions, a translation of the explanation is available.
Gap fill		Gap fill Users type in the missing text by placing the cursor at the beginning of each gap. Users can edit the missing text as required. They can also drag the appropriate element from a source list above the activity and drop it in the selected gap. The answers may also be edited using the keyboard.
Multiple choice		Multiple choice Users select one answer from a section by clicking on the identifying button.
Marking		Marking In some activities, the user has to select more than one answer. This is done by clicking on the appropriate boxes.
Chart filling		Chart filling In chart-filling activities, the user places the cursor at the beginning of a box and types in the text. As with gap-fill activities, the user can drag and drop from a selection of answers.
Correcting and editing activities		Correcting and editing activities In some activities, users are asked to correct a text. This is done by clicking on an incorrect word to cross it out, then inserting new text by typing it in. Any changes can be corrected by clearing the activity and starting again.
Matching		Matching In matching activities, users draw a line between two elements in different lists. The lists can contain single words, sentences, longer paragraphs or pictures. The user clicks on one element in the other list. An incorrect line can be removed by clicking on it.
Identification		Identification In this activity type, users mark some parts of a sentence or text according to certain instructions. Moving the mouse over the text highlights the elements which can be marked. One click with the mouse highlights an element, another click removes the highlight.
Word ordering		Word ordering Users use a drag-and-drop technique to correct any sentence word-order.
Sentence ordering		Sentence ordering Users use drag-and-drop techniques to correct sentence or paragraph order.
Writing activity		Writing activity In each lesson you will also find two or three writing activities. A writing activity gives the opportunity to express your views on a given topic or just write some sentences to practise your writing skills. In view of the fact that such activities cannot be checked by the program, instead of a check icon, there is a printer icon next to all such activities. Once you have written the answer, you may print out the text from this activity and then show it to an English teacher or someone who could check what you have written.
Combination		Combination Activity modules are very flexible and are arranged on the page in a variety of combinations making the learning process interesting and motivating for the students.
